Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu is the Catholic Bishop of Konongo-Mampong in Ghana. He was ordained a priest on 3 August 1975 and a bishop on 28 May 1995. He has a B.A. (Hons) in Theology (University of Durham, England, 1974) and a Ph.D. in New Testament (University of Aberdeen, 1980).
He lectured in New Testament in the Department for the Study of Religions, University of Ghana, Legon, from 1981 to 1995. In 1995 he lectured for a semester in New Testament at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome. From 1992 to 1997 he was a member of the International Theological Commission based in Rome. He is currently a member of the Methodist-Roman Catholic International Commission which comes under the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in Rome and the World Methodist Conference.
He was for some time a member of the Ghana Education Service Council. He was for many years the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic University College of Ghana at Fiapre, near Sunyani. He is currently a member of the National Peace Council and the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
