Ohene Aku is an MIT-educated Senior Leader with startup and Fortune 50 corporate leadership experience in finance and operations, with deep expertise in strategy formulation, partnering across diverse functional groups, and managing corporate processes.
Until recently, he was the head of strategy and new markets for Royal Bank of Scotland global credit electronic trading business. As part of his responsibilities, he oversaw operational execution of strategy including regulatory mandates and implementing supervisory framework, EMEA Credit & Mortgage Markets. He has previously worked with several Fortune 500 companies, including Exxon Mobil, Microsoft, General Electric, GE Capital, Deutsche Bank and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
He is passionate about technology and leveraging technology to drive new emerging business models that allow companies to dominate their respective industries. At Microsoft he led in managing key investments worldwide as part Microsoft’s Commercial Software Initiative to combat the threat of open source software to Microsoft’s business model. As a Senior Vice President at the New York City Economic Development Corporation he led restructuring of its funding operations and the entire finance function making it more responsive to the various development initiatives during Mayor Bloomberg’s administration. Ohene has partnered with several senior executives on various business ventures including the Songhai corporate advisory and business execution firm.
Ohene Aku holds a PhD in Nonlinear Systems and Control from Columbia University in New York and an MBA from Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA. He had his undergraduate education in engineering with his master’s degree from MIT’s prestigious Chemical Engineering Practice School program.
